Hanuman - LP Sune, Wat Salakune
The white ape called Hanuman has a crystal fang in the middle of his palate as the main symbol. He has a hairy diamond earring which could help him in the manifestation of power transforming the white ape into a four face hanuman with eight waving arms. He always carries a magical sharp blade and he has the abilities to yawn out moons and stars. He has the power to transform into anything that could cast a shadow and remain invincibly invisible. In rare cases where the white ape is killed in a battle, he could easily be revived by the wind since Hanuman has inherited this ability from his father, the Lord of Winds or Phra Phrai.
Once upon a time, there is a hermit called Kadome who has been ascetically ordained for over two thousand years. Basically, Kadome the hermit was once the King of Saket city, and he has ruled the kingdom without any heirs. After two thousand years, his beard was so long that the weaver birds had decided to make a nest in it. The Weaverbirds has claimed that, “Kadome the hermit is a sinful person for not being able to give birth to a female offspring during the time of his reign.” As a result, there weren’t any royal descendants who would continue to serve the Saket kingdom after Kadome has decided to leave for ordination. The birds had successfully persuaded the Hermit to hold a magical ceremony that would give him a beautiful lady. After he has given life through two thousand years of practice, Kadome named his most beloved creation Kalajana. They’ve married and lived together until she bears him a lovely daughter called Swaha. Later on, Lord Indra and the God of the Sun have divided a portion of their power to support Lord Vishnu in the battle against the demon king Ravana. During the way to war, both of the Gods have also impregnated Kalajana allowing her to deliver three babies at once.
This secret affair in between Kalajana and both of the Gods has caused so much pain for Kadome until he decides to turn his wife into a stone. Then the hermit decides to leave all of the three babies into the water current praying that his only offspring would swim back to him. He also had cast the other two infants away into the wilderness before turning them into apes. Later, when Kalajana has found out that Swaha was the only reason why she was cursed. The mother quickly punishes her daughter for telling her dad the truth by forcing her to feed on winds while standing only with one leg by the edge of Chukawal cliffs. She was forced to be tortured in that position for a period of time until Lord Shiva shared some of his power to Phra Phrai and asked him to shoot three types of weapon into her mouth in order to impregnate her. The Godly shot ends her curse, Swaha was pregnant for 30 months before she gave birth to the most powerful white ape designed especially for war called Hanuman. The three following weapons that made up the main body parts of Hanuman are consisted of the lethal blade, rowel, and a staff. The ape borned warrior was delivered through Swaha’s mouth and has inherited the ability to fly from his father Lord Shiva. Since Hanuman has possessed these special qualities, some of the wisest legendary teachers of ancient times such as Lp Sune Jantachoti of Salakune temple have been upholding the art of creating Hanuman to establish strategies that would help his disciple to be as brave and courageous as the white ape
Lp Sune was born in Nontaburi with his original name called as Sune Panklum. The date of his ordination remains a mystery until today. He was known for being the most disciplined preacher admired by everyone during his monkhood. He has also succeeded as the next elite monk master through the village’s monk election after his master has passed away. Lp Sune has a huge body figure and a fair skin tone; he loves to chew on betel leaves and smokes only on certain occasions. He would always wake up in the morning to sweep the front yard of his temple with a long broom stick and was supported by the villagers in funding the development of his temple. When night falls, he would light up the candle to meditate and chant his prayers. The villagers would always see his shadow from afar proving how much he’s dedicated in practicing until he finds it hard to sleep.
Basically, nobody knows where Lp Sune has learned those incantations from, except for the ones used in creating the Hanuman’s talisman in which he has learned it from Phra Nak Tat. The village’s ancestor has once said that Lp Sune had so much love and respect for Lp Klin of Sapan-soong temple. They were seen together frequently since the times when they were still a disciple of Lp Aiam Patomnam of Sapan-soong temple. Lp Aiam was considered to be one of the most formerly known monks of Pakret temple. Nobody has ever found out where he has mastered his skills from until the day he passed away.
Some of the simple briefings of his personal biography have stated that he was one of the most gracious monks who have ever lived for he would always cure the sick ones until they’re fully recovered. He does not create the talisman magical blade, but he would keep one of the them by his side which is mainly used for chasing the evil spirits that has possessed the villagers. His chanting was only used to produce Hanuman and the talisman magic clothes for the distribution of his followers.
During the time when Lp Sune was still a monk in his junior years, he has planted the some of the trees from the Polianthes tuberosa and Gardenian’s family in the temple until he was promoted as the Master of the monk committee. He used the holy water to sprinkle on both of the trees and waited until they’ve matured. Then he carefully dug it out from the ground surface and left it in the sun to dry before calling the best carver from Bangkok to chop them into pieces. The carver came to stay at Salakune temple for carving Hanuman in a squatting position out of those two types of wood. Later, the well carved wooden apes were stored in the monk’s alms bowl covered with plain white cloths before Lp Sune would place them inside his bedroom.
After that, he would held a secret consecration ceremony at late night within his room and ask his disciples to transfer the wooden apes into the sanctuary by Saturday morning to be prepared for the oblation ceremony. Lp Sune would proceed to the next step by positioning himself in the middle of the sanctuary with all the windows shut. He would stay in there until midnight or sometimes until the crack of dawn just to finish the process. There were stories about the creation of Hanuman and how Lp Sune would collect the wooden apes in his alms bowl before placing them inside his cubicle.
According to Lp Sune’s oblation ceremony, people have described how they’ve seen candle lights shining from the sanctuary. So they quietly followed the light and were completely amazed after they’ve spotted a huge shadow of Hanuman standing in the hall with its height reaching the top of the ceiling. This was the legendary tale that the villagers of Nontaburi have been passing on from one generation to the next. Until the present day, they found out that the spells used by Lp Sune was called as the “Katat wat thing sakara pata” spell. It was considered as the base stanza used to reach out for Hanuman – Ohm tuo gu kue (I’m) Hanuman waya bute (the son of) Swaha, mee rit chaan chai berk krung badaal (I have the power to reach the underwater kingdom), Hanumana Itirit Anupawaena Ana Ama-oo-aa Namapata Japakasa Nama-aa-oo Yatapu Tamona, Ohm Phra-Phrai Swaha chuay look duay (please help me), Sang ka tung Lo kung ka witu Ohm Swaha swahome. This prayer supports the Anulo – Patilome elements until Hanuman jumps or levitates as if it’s really alive! After that, Lp Sune has asked his disciple to bring him thorns from the Ziziphus mauritiana Lam’s plant or a mosquito net during the consecration ceremony for some purpose. When his disciples question him about those items, he replied that it’s mainly used for preventing the Hanuman from jumping away. Thus, the incantation ceremony of Lp Sune is considered to be very holy and magical.
fter he has consecrated Hanuman in the sanctuary, he would then continue the chanting process in his private cubicle. After he’s done, he would distribute the sacred wooden apes to his disciples and worshippers at very low or no cost. Whenever he receives any financial support, he would use the entire amount to repair or restore the temple. It is such a pity that the villagers within that province didn’t have the chance to worship what he has created at all. In contrast, there were proven tales of miraculous experiences from hanuman worshippers located far away from Nontaburi. The story spreads from worshippers to people throughout every direction in the land of smiles. The prayers that Lp Sune would always ask his hanuman’s worshippers to repeat is
Nabang Plerng Mobangpak-krabok yami-hai ork oot-tung toh oot tung ut ah-sang wisuro pusasupa ma-ah-ooh Ohm yaputa tayostree stree ni-sung ho –
repeat x3 or x7. You do not have to worry about invulnerability at all.
The carvings could be separated into two different types consisting of the blade and mask. The feature of the mask is exquisitely shaped by a skilled carver with his fullest potential. Generally, mask carvings in the ancient times require a high level of difficulty and it might take days to complete with the price settings at one baht per each ape. Moreover, the carvers had to design the Hanuman’s mask together with its robes which requires even more time to complete. For blade carvers, the process is quite simple and it requires a shorter period of time. It could be easily spotted and it’s also harder to carve them when the wood materials are soft. There’s a great chance that the fragile wooden blade could be broken if the skilled carvers couldn’t handle the process carefully. In addition, the hanuman wooden carving has a much stronger manufacturing material which represents the schemes a warrior when compared to the blade. There was also fake wooden apes’ carving that does not hold the true identity of Hanuman. We could easily distinguish it from how the wooden materials were lighter and dryer than the original wooden apes due to the absence of rubber components.
he three materials used to create the wooden apes include the Cape Jessamie tree, Giant Indian Milkweed tree, and tusks. The elders have suggested that the ivory tusks would be the last option for carvers in certain situations when they ran out of lumber materials. Practically, Lp Sune would plant the Cape Jessamie and Giant Indian Milkweed trees by himself and water them daily with the holy chanted water that he has been prepared. Then he would dry those wooden materials in the sun before carving them into wooden apes. Lastly, he would recite the 32nd chapter of enchantment and the Hanuman spell to end the spiritual procedure.
n the theory of creating Lp Sune’s Hanuman, Mr. Duang Sooktong (born on 2461 BE) the son of Mr. Plew Sooktong, the former monk of Salakune temple who was once a companion of Lp Sune. He was the one who has provided details about how to consecrate a Hanuman. He told Lp Sune that Hanuman was carved from the wooden roots of Cape Jessamie tree and small ivory tusks of different sizes. Mr. Mee was a Hanuman carver who came twice on special occasions to carve the middle-sized wooden apes with its width at 1 inch and its height at 1 inch and a half.
In the First round: lesser than a hundred Hanuman was created in 2468 BE and it was being distributed in various temples during important religious ceremony for free.
In the second round: created in the late 2470 – 2471 BE, distributed in Tod-Kratin ceremony of Salakune temple in the year BE 2472.
There were two types of Hanuman that has been created (i) Hanuman with his mask & (ii) Hanuman with his blade. Over 200 Hanuman has been simply carved from wooden roots of Cape Jessamie tree and small ivory tusks at that particular time. Most of the worshippers who have received them were from Bangkok because those people were the ones who hosted the Tod Kratin event.
The power of Hanuman has benefited people most with invulnerability and kindness.
